Here I want to put some books, websites, etc… that I recommend. Many of these are vegan content recommendations.
.
Health/Nutrition
- Dr. Michael Greger. I recommend him because he is focused on following good research rather than trying to prove what he wants or believes to be true, with multiple studies that back what he says. He puts out information for free as a public service, has a lot of energy, and loves puns!
- He has a website with a lot of interesting videos on specific topics
- He has three great books How Not to Die, How Not to Diet, and How Not to Age (and cookbooks that go with each one of these).
- Dr. Joel Fuhrman. I recommend him because he also is focused on following good research to find what will promote the healthiest, longest life. He is very blunt in the way that he shares information.
- He has a YouTube channel with videos for his podcast as well as clips from interviews he does with other people. You can also access his podcast through Spotify.
- He has many books, with Eat to Live being probably his most well known one
- He has a website with articles and recipes, but a lot of it is only accessible to members.
Fitness/Movement
- Katy Bowman. I recommend her because she re-frames movement and activity in ways that no one else seems to talk about and that really make sense and have made a difference in my life. She also breaks things down in a way that is accessible to anyone, such as people who haven’t been active in a long time and people who are older.
- She has a website with a lot of articles and a quiz that can help you find where there might be gaps in your movement.
- She has a lot of great books. I recommend starting with Move Your DNA.
- She has a fun podcast that you can access from multiple places, including her website (I listened to it through Spotify)
- Overcoming Gravity by Steven Low is a book that I recommend if you are interested in calisthenics. He shows a lot of exercises and what their progressions are so that you can know where to go once you are ready to make a move more challenging. His information on how to structure a workout is interesting, although I find that I prefer the results I am getting from more of a circuit training method.
- Summerfunfitness is a YouTube channel that I recommend. Summer is a female, vegan, calisthenics trainer who can do some awesome things that I find inspiring. She is also great at providing content for people whether they are beginner, intermediate, or advanced.
- Minusthegym is another YouTube channel that I recommend. Ryan is also a vegan, calisthenics trainer with content for people at multiple levels.
Recipes/Cooking
- Nisha Vora, creator of Rainbow Plant Life. I recommend her because she shares a lot of consistently delicious recipes and is great at teaching how to make flavorful food for yourself. I do have to slightly change her recipes to match how I eat, since I don’t do oil or salt, but I find that they still work really well.
- She has a website with a ton of recipes.
- She has two great cookbooks, Big Vegan Flavor and The Vegan Instant Pot Cookbook
- She has a YouTube channel with a lot of recipes and tips.
- Carleigh Bodrug, creator of PlantYou. I recommend her because she shares a lot of yummy, simple recipes and a lot of them meet how I eat without alteration. She also has a cookbook that focuses on creating less food waste, which is something important to me.
- She has a website with a lot of great recipes.
- She has two cookbooks, PlantYou and PlantYou Scrappy Cooking.
Woodworking
- Ana White, has a lot of free woodworking projects and is great at teaching how to build things for yourself.
- She has a website with her plans
- She has a YouTube channel with a lot of inspiring and informative videos.
